I hope you believe as I do that affordable housing in Bolinas is important. Now, more than ever, support from you would help the Bolinas Land Trust continue to help maintain a diverse and exciting community by assisting local families to find affordable housing in Bolinas.
Why now? Because your gift will be matched dollar for dollar!
A local benefactor has donated $50,000 to the Land Trust as a Challenge Gift, matching dollar for dollar any money we raise from now until the end of 2008. The “Close the Gap” Matching Gift Campaign is intended to inspire our local community to help the Land Trust buy down our mortgage debt, and with this opportunity, complete the Bolinas Station project by making the Land Trust a viable, debt free organization!
Why is this critical? Without debt, the Bolinas Land Trust can look to the future and imagine new projects. Affordable housing is still a critical issue for this community, and as part of our strategic plan, we are interested in new ways to create permanent and affordable housing opportunities.
We are currently examining some exciting strategies to broaden our ability to provide housing:
• Creating a database of housing opportunities to encourage renting to residents and the local workforce
• Assisting homebuyers with information on equity sharing, tenancy in common and other models that will enable creative home buying for Bolinas residents
• Creating a planned giving program so that residents can leave a legacy to the community through a gift of land
